I have received a lot of questions from family and friends who ask me “What is a Blog?” So, I have decided to just take this post to share with you my view of blogs.
The word blog is actually short for the term “weblog.” Weblogs are supposed to document and provide links about what is going on around the world wide web. Today, with tools like the one I am using from Blogger, any people have started using them as online journals.
You may wonder what the real difference is between the weblog and journal? From what I have read by doing some searches, the intent of Weblogs was to provide insight, share knowledge or commentary on a news article or topic that you know about and then share a link to the article or topic that you are writing about. Journals are more of an online diary written by the person about a thmselves or others. Journals are generally more personal in nature - more of a "dear diary".
Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog says that “Blogs often provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic.”
I have decided that I want to bring the world of quilling to as many people as possible. I have found so many people that think it is beautiful but then say that they cannot do it themselves. I want everyone who thinks that quilling is beautiful to give it a try in a safe environment. I say this to everyone, the quilling community is one of the most generous communities around. Everyone is encouraging and your work is always praised for the effort. There are purists in every field, but nature is not perfect, so the pressure for perfection in what you do in quilling is removed. The key is to have fun and create art!
In my next post I will talk about how to use some of the features of a blog!
Have a great day or evening!
