Freebie Graduation Card Printable

Antonella Graduation Free Printable for 2013, 2014, and 2015
Antonella Graduation Free Printable for 2013, 2014, and 2015
I wanted to get this Graduation card in before the year was over... We celebrated my sister's graduation over Christmas. She graduated over the summer, but there was never any kind of celebration, so I wanted to make sure she knew how proud everyone was of her!

The funny thing about this card is that I picked a green color that printed out teal on my printer, so I swapped out the green for a teal rhinestone and went with the flow. Since she is married with children, I went with a more mature look to her card and did a simple Congratulations and the year down the side. Added some glitter and rhinestones (I just love the sparkle).

Filigree Friday Free Graduation Printable

Phew!!! Got this in under the wire... it is still another
Fabulous Filigree Friday!!

We have so many Graduations this year, so I have been working on a card for all the graduates, psst, if you happen to be one of those who may receive one, just pretend you didn't see it when I give it to you :-) .... So I looked around and got some ideas and believe it or not, when I started trying to plan the card I was thinking I would do something with an owl... As you can see, I went completely off the reservation on this one... LOL!!

I really love easel cards and I gravitated to that design as I started to think of a way to give something that could be more than a card if desired.  My thinking is that the recipient (or in reality their mom) could take a picture of the Grad and add it to the front of the card and then you have a photo display!

For the easel base, I took a 12" x 6" piece of cardstock - make sure it is something thick.  I then scored it at 6" and 9"

For the front, I cut a black 6" x 6" square and punched the corners with a Martha Stewart Double Loop corner punch that my WONDERFUL! FABULOUS! Friend from work LUCY let me borrow!!! I must digress for just a moment... Lucy is a wonderful person who loves to craft, it is so wonderful to be able to have someone I can talk crafty stuff with and we were talking about punches and she brought in her punched samples and let me borrow a few of her punches! Isn't she GREAT?

When trying to decide what to do with the front of the easel I just started throwing words into PowerPoint and somehow ended up with what you see here.  You are more than welcome to print it out and use it on your project too.  I used black for the "Congrats Grad" and "2011" and there are a few pages with some color variations on the remaining words.

As you can see, I cut out by hand a graduation cap and added a quilled tassel to the front.  I used some of my special gold edged red paper just for that little extra shine and also used crystal glaze and some glitter on the cap (I do so love the bling!!)

The tricky part for me with these easel cards is keeping them standing - lol! So I added a strip of decorative cardstock (also punched with the MS Double Loops border punch).  It is hard to see, but I used dimensional tape so that the easel would slide up to it and stay there.  For a little extra support, I took a piece of scrap white printer paper and rolled a diploma which I tied with a thin red ribbon.  It is hard to see in this picture, but the diploma is also painted with crystal glaze so it is also nice and shiny.

I hope you have a Fantastic Weekend!

Graduation Owl Card

Isn't this a really fun card? I had so much fun making it, and can honestly say that I am super proud of what I have created!  The owl is partly inspiration from the wonderful selection of cards out there and a large part from my own imagination and ingenuity.

We are going to a graduation party and I wanted to create something special.  When my husband likes a card that I have made, then I know I have created a good one, and he liked this one (usually what I make is "too girly" for him).  As many things do these days, I began my quest for inspiration and ideas by doing a google search on graduation owl cards... I absolutely love google, don't you :-)

As is the case many times when doing a search, I got completely lost in the search.  Yes, I sometimes strayed from the quest, but eventually I had to call the search quits.  I found so many cards that I liked, but the one that was my inspiration is this card by Sharon Caudle from Gramma's House of Cards, check out Sharon's blog, because she is very talented.

I know what you are thinking, it is an owl, how different can they all be and how did this inspire the owl I created? Yes, most owls do look the same.  They all have a basically rounded face and short round body.  Some are punched or die cut and many others were stamped.  All this is true.  So what was it that inspired me? I really liked the way the die that she used allowed her to layer her owl.  If you look at the accent paper that she used for the belly and face area it really stands out.

Now, as you may have guessed by the differences with our cards, I don't have an owl punch or die cut... did that let stop me? Of course not, just I had to shake out my brain and get a bit creative. So armed with nothing more than my circle punches and scissors,  I got started.  Oh, and don't forget rummaging through the stash of papers that I have too.  I am convinced that the paper stash is secretly happy when I go rummaging through them because they are tired of sitting around looking pretty and not being used - lol.

If you are interested in the instructions for making this fella, click here for the complete set of instructions.  Due to the number of pictures that I used and the somewhat complex set of instructions I felt it was easier to post them there than here.

I hope you enjoy this card and have a wonderful day!

Enjoy!
