Free Valentine Eye Chart Printable

A sweet little gift for you sweetheart, or a cute Valentine's gift for classmates. These are a quick and easy addition to a card or gift bag.  I had seen a few of these eye charts and I thought it would be fun to create one to share with everyone. There are a variety of styles, font variations, sizes, including tags that you could use for your child's Valentines gift bags. You can save it and create a sweet Mother's Day or Anniversary gift. Anywhere or anytime you want to share some love!

Mother's Day Card and Free Printable

I wanted to share a sweet Mother's Day card I made.  I really, really love square cards, don't you? Do you have a style of card that you keep going back to time and time again?

I know that the colors are not what you would think of for a Mother's Day card, but I wanted to do something different and I really loved this paper.  I then began punching flowers and layering them. Of course, no card is complete without some sparkle, so I added some 'gemstones' to the flowers :-) Flowers aren't complete without a butterfly, don't you agree?

Don't you love the Mother's Day badge? This is not one of mine, this is from one of the blogs I follow "Netty's Cards" you can find her freebie here.

Challenges:

• I am joining in on the "As You Like It Challenge" - As I mentioned above, I love butterflies and my Martha butterfly punch is my favorite!!! You will have seen this butterfly on many of my projects!  This is their very 1st challenge, hop on over and take a peak - they are also looking for DT members if you are interested!!!  I love the fact that these challenges run for 2 weeks - for those of you busy mom's like me you actually have a chance to get your project together!
• I am also joining the "Simply Create Too - Anything Goes" Challenge - you have plenty of time to get your project together for this one as well, it closes on May 23rd! Great!!!

Wacky Wednesday and Free Cute Purse Template

Woohoo!!! My first Wacky Wednesday post...

I was thinking it would be a little fun to find other words that start with "W" to try out some other options

Our word this week is:  welaway it means alas... appropriate for today, as I begin anew :-)

I thought it would be fun to share my son's Mother's Day card.  Isn't this adorable? I love the shape and the jewels on the handle, but my favorite is the pictures he drew, LOVE the picture of us hanging out together.  I love the little details that were added just for us - the pool party with the "splash" - I LOVE IT!!!  In fact, I am entering this as one of my projects for the "May Artful Bag Challenge" maybe you will feel inspired to give it a try :-)

For those of you who would like to try your hands at a project of your own, I am sharing this purse template (pdf) that you can print out to make your own purse.  Cathy, if you are reading this, please skip over this next part... I am going to use this template to create a purse card for my niece's birthday... No matter the age, that love of purse's is strong, I am thinking paper with glitter and lots and lots of bling - what do you think? I need to get on that, I don't have a lot of time to pull this together (well, sleep is overrated!)

Purse Template

I promise to take pictures of my journey in creating the girly-girl purse, but some quick notes... I will print out the template, cut and fold it on a scrap piece of paper.  I usually start with printer / copy paper.  I do this because I don't want to have lines on my project, so when I am ready to make my project, this becomes what I use to create my purse.  I will line it up on the paper I am going to cut and cut around it (tape can be used to hold it in place).  I have a bunch of ideas floating around my head right now, they will probably continue to float there for a while as my project builds up in my head and then I attempt to create it :-)

Happy Mother's Day !!!

I received this poem from a friend of mine and thought I would share it with all of you Moms out there.

MOTHERS

Real Mothers don't eat quiche;
They don't have time to make it.

Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils
Are probably in the sandbox.

Real Mothers often have sticky floors,
Filthy ovens and happy kids.

Real Mothers know that dried play dough
Doesn't come out of carpets.

Real Mothers don't want to know what
The vacuum just sucked up...

Real Mothers sometimes ask 'Why me?'
And get their answer when a little
Voice says, 'Because I love you best.'

Real Mothers know that a child's growth

The Images of Mother

4 YEARS OF AGE - My Mommy can do anything!

8 YEARS OF AGE - My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!

12 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother doesn't know everything!

14 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother? She wouldn't have a clue.

16 YEARS OF AGE - Mother? She's so five minutes ago.

18 YEARS OF AGE - That old woman? She's way out of date!

25 YEARS OF AGE - Well, she might know a little bit about it!

35 YEARS OF AGE - Before we decide, let's get Mom's opinion.

Free Quilled Angel Pattern

Oh my, are you ready for this? A free quilling pattern!!! Yeah!!!

I know, there has been a real dry spell hasn't there? Well, this pattern is one of my favorites.  I love making Angels and this little sweetie is really special.  I hope you enjoy giving her a twirl.

This angel is made using the Spreuer technique (some people refer to the tool as an Onion Holder)
Follow this link to my previous instructions on the Spreuer Technique. 

I call her My Silvery Angel

Head

• 2 strips of paper, grape roll (this is a shaped tight roll)
• Shape the tight roll by gently pushing center up
• Don't forget her Halo - no self respecting Angel would be found without one :-)
• The halo is just a scrap - I wrapped it around my thumb to get the shape and then glued it to the back of her head to keep it in place
• I also created a tight roll with an open center and glued it to her head, this is where you will attach the hanger

Wings (Make 2 of these, refer to photo with numbers)

• Start at 10 - 9 - 8 - 7 - 5 - 4 - 3
• Yes this is not a typo, I skipped 6
• I found that it makes a more realistic wing that way (at least to me)

Body (Only make 1 of these)

• The body is a little longer than the wing to give it proportion
• This is another one of my non-traditional Angel bodies
• Her dress is all the same length
• Start at 11 in the center
• Go 11 - 11L - 11R - 11L - 11R

Note that this is a little tricky to get that triangle shape for her dress.  As you wrap your quilling paper around you will need to play with the dress a bit to make sure that the strips don't overlap too much.

The rest is all the fun stuff that adds a bit of bling and personality to the project

Her hands are holding a little red spiral rose (I know hard to tell with the picture because I put a drop of crystal effects in the center and took the picture before it had dried clear)
Her hands are two 8 in Shaped Teardrops

For the spiral rose check out this tutorial that I created a while back.


For the necklace, a scrap strip of Green (maybe about 4 inches) made in the Spiral shape and then wrapped around her neck (this covers the seam where the head and dress attach and also adds a bit more strength to this area)

I used the crystal effects to lightly paint the angel and lightly glittered her

This ornament was attached to a beautiful red card (can't take credit for it, it was in a $1 pack at Michaels)

Free Quilling Pattern Mother's Day Card

This is a variation of the card I made for you yesterday, just click this link if you want to see that card.

This is the same thought, a Mother's love is unconditional, this is a sweet way to commemorate that love.

I started with a white card blank (the size of the card is up to you - depends on what you have at hand)

The scrapbooker in me added some torn green strips of paper to get the look of grass with paper. I added a "Happy Mother's Day" printed on a piece of scrap paper.

I wrote in as neat a flowing cursive hand that I could the following words:

Love Unconditional Mom

I wrote them so that they were growing along the long side of the card (these are the stems of my flowers)

I then created flowers frowing from the top of these stems

The Love flower

• 8 - 3 in (7.6 cm) Tight rolls arranged along the stem
  
• I placed a pearl at the top of the flower

The Unconditional flower

• 5 - 6 in (15.2 cm) Teardrops arranged with the rounded end in the center


• A small "crystal" or "gem" was placed in the center of the flower

The MOM flower

• 3 - 4 in (10.2 cm) Teardrops
  
• Placed a pearl for the center of the flower

I found these cute heart shaped crystals and added one to the card

What garden would be complete without a butterfly?
Head and Body

• 1 - 6 in (15.2 cm) Teardrop


• 1 - 3 in (7.6 cm) Loose Coil for the head


• 1 - .5 in (1.3 cm) strip cut in half 3/4 of the way down the strip. Glue the end that was not cut to the head and curl the cut ends to create the antennae

Large Wing (create 2 of these)

• 3 in (7.6 cm) white strip glued to a 6 in ( cm) Red strip


• Roll your coil so that the white is in the center, create a Teardrop shape

Small Wing (create 2 of these)

• 2 in (5.1 cm) White strip glued to 3 in (7.6 cm) Red strip
• Roll your coil so that the white is in the center, create a Teardrop shape

Glue one pair of wings to the body and the second pair of wings on top for the added dimension

Use the picture for guidance and placement

I started with a white card blank (the size of the card is up to you - depends on what you have at hand)

The Love flower

• 4 - 4 in (10.2 cm) Loose Coils


• 2 - 4 in (10.2 cm) Teardrops (for the leaves)


• I accented the flower with a "crystal" / "gem"

The Unconditional flower

• 9 - 3 in (7.6 cm) Teardrops arranged along the stem


• 1 - 4 in (10.2 cm) Tight Roll placed at the top


• 2 small "crystals" or "gems" were used to dot the "I's"

The MOM flower

• 3 - 4 in (7.6 cm) Teardrops


• Accented with a "crsytal" or "gem"


• 2 - 4 in (10.2 cm) Teardrops (for the leaves)


• Round, red crystal or gem for the "O" in Mom

What garden would be complete without a butterfly?
Head and Body

• 1 - 4 in (10.2 cm) Marquise


• 1 - 2 in (5 cm) white strip with just a tiny strip of black glued to the end. The tight roll is coiled so that the black is in the center like an eye


• 1 - .5 in (1.3 cm) strip cut in half 3/4 of the way down the strip. Glue the end that was not cut to the head and curl the cut ends to create the antennae

Large Wing

• 3 in (7.6 cm) strip glued to a 3 in (7.6 cm) White strip glued to a 4 in (10.2 cm) strip


• Roll your coil so that the 4 in (10.2 cm) end is rolled last

Small Wing:

• 4 in (10.2 cm) Teardrop

Arrange as shown

Add some dashes to show the path your little butterfly flew
Add a bright, cheerful sun in the corner and some grass
