Giveaway Winner!!!

Happy Friday Everyone!!

Can you believe it is July 1st today? Boy, more than half the year is gone... I was tickled and honored by all the entries and so happy to see how many people are followers and some of you who became new followers. THANK YOU!!!

I am pleased, so very pleased to announce the winner of my 5 Year boGIVErsary Giveaway....

... drum roll please ....  Comment #29 --> as selected by Random.org

It is Kathy from Not Just Emroidery, she is a new follower (awe thanks)!
I visited her blog and pulled this from her profile:
I'm originally from California. Met my hubby on the internet and moved to Arizona. After 15 years in Arizona, we just moved to Wisconsin. Talk about a change! We didn't even own winter clothes!

I've left some love for Kathy on her blog with the good news - and I've also sent her an email directly as she provided a way to get her email!  Have you noticed this too? I have seen a disturbing trend these days, when you enter giveaways people don't contact the winners directly.  I don't get that... I know that I am super busy and don't always get a chance to visit everyone I follow every day, so a quick email letting me know I've won is always appreciated!

Please visit Kathy as I'm sure she'd love to hear from you!

Thank you to everyone! I only wish I could have given everyone something.

What do you guys think about doing some kind of swap?  You know, like we did in the "old days" where everyone who wants to participate makes 5 of the same thing and then everyone gets one of each item?  We used to to it where the number of items matched the number of people participating up to some magic maximum number... thoughts?

Have a Great Day Everyone!

Wondrous Wednesday Patriotic Printable

Welcome back!  I know, it used to be called Wacky Wednesday, but I kept thinking I should change it, so here we are with Wondrous Wednesday!  My inspiration was the word I selected last week... speaking of which, let's see what our "w" word of the week is....

wahoo
A North American burning bush or A large predatory tropical marine fish
(go figure, I was thinking along the lines of celebratory)

I hope you are having a great day! The weather is threatening to storm outside.  I wish it would, but only if it will take the oppressive humidity with it. You know one of those days where you can feel the humidity grab your lungs when you walk out the door? lol!

Today I have a fun printable for you.  The picture is one that I took of our flag that hangs outside our home.  As you can see, I took the picture at night.  I did some playing with the picture, I am no expert by any means, but I wanted the night sky to be darker.  Then I took the photograph and added the words to the "Pledge of Allegiance" the original version :-)  With the 4th of July around the corner, I wanted to share something patriotic with you.

I am happy to share my tutorials and freebies / printables with you, I only ask that you do the following:
  • Please leave a comment if you download one of my freebies / printables, I would love to hear from you
  • If you enjoy the things I share with you, please become a follower so that you will see all the new stuff when it is posted (no pressure, join only if you want)
  • Please do not share any of my digital images, printables, or tutorials directly with others, but please do send them on over to me so that they can peruse and collect the images themselves.
  • I would be thrilled and honored if you would send me links to any images or posts that you've done using something that I have shared with you.  If you say it is ok, I will even feature your work here!
  • If you want to recolor an images, feel free!
  • If you have a special request, please let me know and I will see what I can do.
  • Most importantly - HAVE FUN!!

My BloGIVErsary!!!

UPDATE:  Thank you for your participation! This giveaway is now closed!
Hello there everyone and welcome to a new Wacky Wednesday! Today will be a little different... This is my 5 year BloGIVErsary and as a thank you I am offering this blog candy to one lucky winner!  So, without further ado, our word this week is:

wondrous  - meaning to be marveled at
(corny, I know)

Let's take a step back in time to 5 years ago... This birdhouse was the first picture I ever posted, it is also one of my favorite quilled pieces.  I made this house warming card for friends of ours.  They had just moved back into the area after having lived in Florida for a few years, after having moved to many different local towns.  As you spin the spinner all of the places (towns and states) that they had lived would be displayed.  For the picture I left it on the smiley face!  I look at it and have to chuckle a little as I apparently put a collection of just about every flower imaginable on the front of the card - lol.  The little blue bird hanging out on the brad is a cutey!  Sigh... memories! Which reminds me, I need to make some more of these cards, I remember how much fun they were to make, and you know my affinity to birdhouses... :-)

The candy is made up of a variety of paper crafting items - the book Twirled Paper which comes with a slotted quilling tool and quilling strips! A Fiskars corner punch, Stampendous alphabet stamps, a 4x6 stack of colored vellum, pretty skeleton leaves, and a few more items that I will add in. I thought it would be nice to share the comment wealth to be entered for a chance to win.  The first place I saw this done was over at Becca's Amazing Paper Grace, what you do is go to one of my older posts and pick a comment and leave a message on the blog of the person who commented - make sure you tell them that "Antonella Quilling Art and Expression sent you".  Then come back here and let me know who you commented on.  I know that messages make my day, so this is a sweet way to share.

So, to win the candy you can do the following:
  1. Find a comment from one of my earlier posts, and leave a comment on the commenter's blog and tell them that "Antonella from Quilling Art and Expression sent you".  Then come back to this post and leave me a comment to let me know who you commented on.  This is referred to as Sharing the Comment Wealth!
  2. Optionally, you can get another chance by leaving me a separate comment telling me that you blogged about this giveaway and have sent your readers a link back to this post.  Grab the badge at the bottom of this post and let me know where you blogged or otherwise posted about this giveaway!
  3. Optionally, you can get another chance by leaving a separate comment if you are already a follower, or enjoy what you see here and become a new follower, leave another comment letting me know you are a follower.

That's it, you can enter up to 3 chances to win this candy.  Since this is my first blog-candy giveaway, I will probably add more goodies, because this is way too fun... so stay tuned :-)

I will be selecting one winner on Friday, July 1st using random.org and will announce the winner on this blog!

Good Luck everyone and have a Wondrous Day!

Aquamarine Blog Givaway

I was visiting Tee at the Altered Paper and saw that her friend Tara at Aquamarine is having a giveaway... you have to check out her beautiful work and you can enter to win a chance for these 4 incredible Mixed Media Art Cards (with envelopes) and a teeny tiny painting too.  She will be picking the winner on Monday, February 28th (I think).

Good Luck!
Antonella :-)

I won a Fantastic Tag!

This has been an incredible time for me! I had so much fun traveling around the world during the One World One Heart (OWOH) adventure.  Not only did I get to meet many fantastically talented bloggers, but I was fortunate enough to have won some of the giveaways!!!!

There is nothing more special than opening up your mail and receiving goodies... oh, I hope that snail mail makes a comeback because there is nothing nicer than actually opening up a letter...

Well, I opened my mail last night and I received this beautiful tag from Carola Bartz - Inspiration Along the Way.  This tag is so pretty in person.  The thing I cannot get out of my mind is that cute key that she has hanging from the smaller tag.  And you cannot tell from the picture, but there is this slightly iridescent sparkle on the bottom tag.  It is truly beautiful! I think I will create a scrapbook page and add this to the page so that I can always keep it and tell everyone who looks at the scrapbook that I received it as a gift.

Thank you Carola!!  If you get a chance pop on over to her blog, I absolutely love the photographs that she shares.  They are beautiful, so go take a peak!

I am still awaiting a few other giveaways - I will share them with you when they arrive!!

Have a WONDERFUL Day!!!

I Won a Beautiful Dove Ornament

WOW!!! Isn't this the most beautiful little ornament? I won this little beauty from Lisa at Clayworks

I received this incredibly BEAUTIFUL dove in the mail.  It is absolutely gorgeous and the picture is a pale image of the beauty you can see in the glimmery, shimmery elegance that Lisa has created. My son could not put it down, it is something that I will cherish... I am going to leave it out and hang it so that it can be enjoyed all year long!

You have to stop by Lisa's blog and check out her work and I love her "bead soup" posts!

I hope that you find a special surprise and beauty in your day!

Have a wonderful day!

Some Things I've Won From OWOH

I had to share some of the wonderful things that I have won (so far) from the very generous people who have participated in the One World One Heart event!   Each year, this is such an extraordinary event that I truly look forward to - my only regret is that this was the final year.  The good news is that our wonderfully talented and generous Lisa Swifka will be hosting a similar event beginning next year - Yeah!!!

Now, onto my first winnings (I will post the other things I have won as they arrive... this is so exciting)

I was the fortunate winner of Collage Sheets from the very talented Deb at Craft Grany from Canada  - she created these particular collage sheets herself in photoshop - isn't she so talented?  She sells her collage sheets and many other items in her shop.  If you check out her blog, she has an "Embroidery Ribbon Flower Tutorial" that she posted on February 18th that you might be interested in checking out.

There are many participants who have shared gifts with everyone who commented... these are the gifts that I have received from those very generous people!  If you get a chance, please visit these kind and generous people....

I received a beautiful picture from Jo of Tanglefrost (UK) - in her own words, she sent a photograph of a mixed-media piece that she calls “Fly Free” - I am including what she wrote in her email because there is no way for me to be able to express it as beautifully as she has:  It shows a woman, exposed and vulnerable, standing precariously on a rickety wall made up of all the expectations that had been imposed on her in the past.  The ‘leaves’, that she had used to cover her nakedness, have been dropped... ‘leaves’ that signify the fear, shame and anger that she had used to hide the marks left by her heart’s journey through life.  Now she is ready to catch hold  the ‘birds’ of courage, compassion and connection which will enable her to fly free, into all her hopes and dreams. - her words are as beautiful as the wonderful items she creates.

There is a special post from Stampgram Studios (US) where she posted a special photo of a "Grunge Angel" that is available for anyone to download.  It is a special Thank You gift she created for everyone to be able to use in your art. Didn't she do a fantastic job? I really love her blog, and you should take a peak at her wonderful work.

You will note that the images in this post are quite small - that is because I wanted you to be able to get an idea of the gift, but they are not mine to share the actual files... only their creators can share them with you.

Enjoy!

Butterfly Giveaway Pictures and A Story

Hello Again!

I have been building up the courage to share this piece of art with each of you.  Yes, I have been afraid to share it with anyone because it is very different from anything I have ever done before, and I am a chicken!

For my One World One Heart giveaway, I knew that I wanted to make a Quilled Butterfly! I wasn't sure what it would look like, but I knew that once I started creating it that the butterfly would find it's way out of the papers I was using and emerge as it was intended... and I was right.  Over the course of many hours and several days, she took shape.  I am so proud of the way she turned out.  I tried to get a close up of her so that you would be able to see all the little details.  I did not start with a pattern, just strips of paper.  The first thing that I did was create the general shape of the wings.  I started with a loose shape in the black quilling paper, I used a nice 1/4 inch wide paper for this project.  I wanted the design to be open, so I just made scrolls and various strips and colors of paper along the way.  I wanted to point out the special little hearts... you will see many heart shapes in the wings.  I did this to show the love that was put into this creation.

I definitely wanted her to sparkle, so I used glitter paper as the backing.  I lightly traced the wing that I had created on the glitter paper and cut it out then glued the wing to the paper.  You can see the sparkle/glitter in the close up. I also added some jewels to the project as well to make her happy and sparkly.

I don't know how many times I changed my mind about what I was going to place her in.  I started out thinking a 4x6 frame, but in the end my butterfly emerged a bit too large for such a small frame.  I have had a growing desire to paint and that desire pushed its way through and I ended up creating a mixed-media painting... Please be kind, this is my first true venture in anything outside of ATCs with painting... This is 8x10 canvas board - Yikes!!!

I hand cut flower petals and leaves to make one large echinacea flower and then you will see that I hand painted others directly on the canvas.  I painted the petals a beautiful "sugar plum" pink color (this is a yummy color and I know that I will use it again).  I covered the entire (painted) canvas board with Alene's Paper Glaze, I know, I LOVE this stuff!!! I use it a lot and I think I am going to be using so much more of it!!! I wish it weren't so expensive... so maybe I'll have to curtail my addiction a bit - lol.....  I don't think you can really see from the picture the beautiful shine on the flowers and background... but believe me it is there.

I love quotes, and selected a quote from Goethe - "Remember to live" that I had from a scrapbook set that I received as a gift many years ago (sorry, don't know what it was anylonger).... And that ultimately is what this butterfly and flower represent... the carefree butterfly flittering about is just enjoying the day... I find that I think I personally need to do more of this and wanted to send some of that free spirit to the winner of my giveaway.

Amy, I hope that you enjoy this gift and that she brings you joy and a bit of inspiration!

2011 One World One Heart

Hello everyone my name is Antonella, and I love to do quilling or paper filigree.  Quilling is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to make, well, just about anything.  If you are interested, take a peak as I have lots of free patterns and quilling for you.  I started my blog in June of 2006, which will make this my 5th year blogging (if you remember, stop back in June and I'll have to do a giveaway to celebrate).

UPDATE:  This event is closed.

I am so happy to welcome you to my blog.  I know that this is one stop along your journey visiting and meeting lots of new and hopefully old  friends. I would love it if you stopped to have a look around before you put your wings back on in your journey around the world.

This year we are "flying on the wings of OWOH",    I am #153. This is the fifth and final One World One Heart Giveaway, so it is with a little sadness that we kick off the event.  This year it begins Sunday, January 30th and ends Thursday, February 17th.  On February 17th the winner will be announced.

one world one heart owoh
What is One World One Heart? The following is from our hostess on this journey, Lisa:
It is a worldwide event for bloggers to give us a chance to make connections we may not have otherwise met.  Can you believe it? Last year there were over 1,000 participants!!! Think of it as a GIGANTIC open house allowing you to travel without ever leaving your home........going from blog to blog(in various countries) seeing the wonder each one has created and meeting all the fabulous people behind those blogs. As a bonus each blogger participant will offer up a "door prize or prizes"....just for dropping by, saying hello and seeing their world.  Click here for the list of participants.
To enter my giveaway, post a comment on this post until February 17th

On your comment make sure you leave me a way to contact you, you must have an active blog to be entered for a chance to win. Please leave a link to your blog and your personal OWOH number so that I can visit your giveaway.

On February 17th I will announce the winner on my blog and I will ask the winner to contact me with their postal mailing address so you can receive your gift.  The winner will be selected using a random number generator (haven't decided which one yet).  The winner can be from any country, it is pure luck of the draw.  I have had international winners in the past and it has worked out well.

Are you ready? I know I can't wait! My giveaway this year will be a quilled Butterfly.  The style of the butterfly will be similar to these pieces I have done that are sprinkled throughout my post, the Blue Snowman, Red/White/Blue Heart, and Birthday Cake.  I will be posting pictures of the butterfly as it progresses....

I have had so much fun over the years participating in this event, my first event was in 2008!  I am sad that this will be the last year, but I completely understand.  It is a lot of work to coordinate this event each year.  As a participant I struggle with trying to find time to visit everyone can you imagine managing the links and leaving messages as Lisa our hostess must?!?

Ok, are you ready? I look forward to your wonderful comments. Remember to write a comment here on THIS post for a chance to win.  Each year I have added prizes before the end of the event, so there will probably be some extra chances to win.... I will update this post accordingly when that happens. :-)

Enjoy!

Happy 4th of July and a Giveaway!

I wanted to take this opportunity to say a special Thank You to all those serving in the armed forces.  I hope that you are well and may you come home safely.

In honor of those who serve, I am offering this little beauty to one you lucky folks who comment on this heart.

Some background on this piece... I am very intrigued by the work of Yulia Brodskaya and decided to play around a little.  I actually started with a birthday cake that I will share with you on another day, but I am going to share with you today my Red, White, and Blue Heart in honor of Independence Day!

Note that all these pictures are of the same heart... I simply placed it on different backgrounds :-)

I went old school with this project, I pulled out my heart stencils and cut 3 hearts in increasing sizes. You guessed it the hearts are red, white and blue (I know, sometimes that creativity is scary - lol)... I glued them together and then started to add my paper pieces.  I hesitate to call this quilling exactly, but it is definitely paper filigree work...

I hope that you enjoy this heart and this inspires you to try something new today too :-)

I would like to offer this quilled heart - on your choice of background - to someone who posts a comment on this post.  I will leave this giveaway open until the end of July.  I will announce the winner on July 31st.

For your chance to win, you can do one or all of the following for 3 chances to win:
  1. Post a comment on this post and let me know what background you like the best
  2. Become a Follower of this blog and post a comment - if you are already a follower, then post a comment and let me know you are already a follower.
  3. Write a post on your blog about this giveaway and post a comment with the link to your post.
Remember, to win you must post a comment on this post, don't forget about your other chances to win too!

Enjoy!

I can see more like this in the future. :-)

Thank you to everyone who participated, I wish I could give something to everyone.. who knows there is always a chance that over the year those who did not win this event could receive a RAK no promises, but I will try ...

So, without further ado, the lucky winners are....

One World One Heart 2010 Magic Carpet Ride

Update (2/15/2010) The winners have been announced, just click and see who won!  Please note, I have turned off comments for this post because the giveaway is over... Hope to see you visit again soon.

This is the 4th Annual One World One Heart event! This is my 3rd year participating in this event...  Welcome to carpet #234, don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win my giveaway!

Lisa challenged us this year to try to incorporate the theme into our giveaways... I humbly submit this wonderful Indian elephant as my magical giveaway.  This is a scan of a beautiful hand painted silk that I was given as a gift.  This project was quite difficult for me because it took me out of my comfort zone, but brought me closer to the type of mixed media work that I am drawn to.  This is a picture of the elephant mounted on an acrylic background.  I love my quilling, so I think I need to add some quilling so stay tuned for some tweaks that will be added :-)

What is the One World One Heart Giveaway? It is a blog-wide event for people around the world to visit participating blogs.  This is an opportunity for everyone to meet new friends and win something.  You need to follow just a few simple rules:

  • My giveaway is the elephant shown.
  • For a chance to win my giveaway, post a comment from January 25th to February 14th.  Make sure you leave me a way to contact you, I'd love to stop by for a visit.
  • On February 15th I will announce the winner on my blog... The winners will be selected at random (using a random number generator).
***Prize UPDATE*** I have decided that I will add 5 ATCs to my giveaway in addition to the Elephant canvas at the top of this post! I will use a portion of the same elephant (see the photo at the bottom of the post for an idea - this is only a representation, because I haven't made them yet - lol).... Are you having as much fun as I am? I hope so...
I hope you have fun on the magic carpet ride!

Click on over to Lisa's site to visit some of the other carpets.

Enjoy!  Antonella :-)

Update: OWOH Giveaway Pictures

I am very excited and I wanted to share with you my updated pictures for my One World One Heart giveaway!

The 4 x 6 canvas board Elephant has been painted green as a base, then I decoupaged the elephant cutout applied a layer of a crackle finish around the elephant and applied a white overlay.  I then stamped scrolls around the elephant in the same green.  The word "Dream" is stamped along side of the elephant.  I then added quilled scrolls around the elephant and of course added bling... green rhinestones and glitter along the stamped scrolls.  A green organza ribbon is tied with a heart charm.

The ATCs are made in a very similar manner, with the main difference being a red bow is tied onto the ATC.

I have been inspired by all of the people participating in the Magic Carpet ride... and I hope that my humble giveaway will be enjoyed by the lucky winners.

I hope that all the fun and love shines through.

Enjoy!
Antonella :-)
